Executive Summary

This report requests Council consider and resolve the available options for the existing Red Bin waste service contained in Confidential Attachment 1.

 

Recommendation:

That Council adopt the recommendation provided in Confidential Attachment 1 to this report.

Description of Item:

This report provides, for Council’s consideration, a range of available options regarding the existing Red Bin waste stream. The report recommends the course of action contained in Confidential Attachment 1.

The issues, risks, and advantages of each option are presented in detail in Confidential Attachment 1.

Sustainability Assessment:

•     Environment

The ongoing provision of a Red Bin waste stream service is a critical component of Council’s existing wider waste services which are designed to minimise the environmental impacts of illegally dumped rubbish and litter.

•     Social

The provision of a comprehensive suite of waste related services underpins the environmental health and wellbeing of the Coffs community.

•     Civic Leadership

The provision of a comprehensive suite of waste related services is a regulated requirement for Council under the Local Government Act.

•     Economic – Broader Economic Implications

The economic implications of each option is described in Confidential Attachment 1.

•     Economic - Delivery Program/Operational Plan Implications

The Delivery Program and Operational Plan implications of each option are described in Confidential Attachment 1.

Risk Analysis:

A comprehensive analysis of the risks related to each option is provided in Confidential Attachment 1.
