Opening of EXTRAOrdinary Meeting

The meeting commenced at 4.00pm with the Mayor, Cr D Knight in the chair.

Acknowledgement of Country

We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet, the Gumbaynggirr people, who have cared for this land since time immemorial. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and commit ourselves to a future with reconciliation and renewal at its heart.

Statement in relation to Recording of Meetings

The Mayor reminded the Chamber that the meeting was to be recorded and live audio streamed, and that no other recordings of the meeting would be permitted.

NOM21/13      Acid Sulfate Soil Disposal from Cultural and Civic Space

 

Motion (Cr Sally Townley / Cr Tegan Swan)

That Council:

1.         Receive a detailed and comprehensive report documenting the changes regarding disposal of acid sulfate soils from the Cultural and Civic Space project.  The report is to provide documented timelines as to how and why the plans changed and should include details of all interactions with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) on this matter (including details of any applications made in relation to this issue).  Full copies of correspondence with NSW EPA as well as with Queensland’s Environment Protection Agency are to be provided.

2.         Receive details of the Project Board delegated limits with regards to additional project expenditure.

3.         Note that the provision of the report does not alter the adopted position of Council regarding the Cultural and Civic Space project.

 

Cr Adendorff arrived, the time being 4.31pm.

That Council:

The MOTION on being put to the meeting resulted in a tied vote. The Mayor used her casting vote and the MOTION was declared CARRIED.

The Motion on being put to the meeting was carried unanimously.

The Motion on being put to the meeting was carried unanimously.

The staff not related to the issue and others vacated the Chamber and the public audio-visual was turned off.

Council reconvened into Open Meeting following the Closed Session, the time being 6.29pm.
